ADULT BOOKS WITH TEEN APPEAL
While the genre of teen literature has blown up over the last 10 years and gained widespread attention from authors, librarians, and teens alike, there are still teens who prefer to read books written for adults.
In recognition of this, YALSA created the Alex Awards back in 1998 which are given to 10 books written for adults with special appeal to young adults, ages 12 - 18. Here are the 2011 winners.

Adult books can be great recommendations for teens with very high reading and maturity levels or those looking for more of a challenge than what they may perceive they will find from teen lit.
